Below are some answers to questions commonly asked by visitors to the club.

<< FAQs Home
  1. How do I get into fencing?

There are a number of fencing clubs around the UK which cater for both beginners and more advanced fencers, as do we. Bedford Fencing Club (BFC) also runs beginner's courses on a regular basis, which those new to fencing can attend to learn how to fence. Attending a beginner's course does not mean you have to join the club.

  1. Do I need all my own kit to fence at the club?

You do not need your own kit to fence at the club: you can borrow everything except breeches. If you do not have breeches, you can only fence steam foil, so we reccomend you buy these if you intend to continue with fencing. We also reccomend that you buy your own glove.

  1. Is there a cost for fencing at the club?

There is a cost for fencing at the club on Tuesdays. You can either come to the club as a vistior, and pay a weekly charge, or join as a member, and pay yearly. To become a member, you must be a member of the BFA, or pay an annual social membership fee of £5. The cost of lessons and borrowing kit is included in this charge.
